Our July Pot Luck community picnic became a pot luck dinner, but in spite of the rain we had a great turn out. Several of us came home with Amish Friendship Bread starter (thanks Shari). If you loved Angelique's cole slaw, the recipe can be found here (Angelique suggests cutting the oil in half).
It was a great honor to have "Children Gather Round" and their huge drum here in our little town hall. Here are a few photos.

Here is a report on last night's dinner and more by Angelique Lee whose help has been invaluable in organizing our after school program.
It is so nice to sit down and visit with neighbors and friends! Over 60 adults and children attended the Spaghetti Dinner, prepared by the After School Program, with the help of Joyce Stevens and many parents. Joyce kept everyone so well directed that she even had time to go outside and play a game with the kids before the guests arrived. Two feet of snow in the playground didn't stop anyone from enjoying the play structures, maybe spring has finally started.
This spring's After School Program has consistently drawn over twenty-five children and parents for each program, and sometimes many more than that, to a wide variety of programming:
A live raptor visit from VINS
Snowshoeing with Joe Desena
Printmaking using waterbase inks with Angelique Lee
Travel the World with community members including Saskia Groom and John Teoh
Wonderful Worms with educator Heather Behrens
Dessert Making and the Spaghetti Dinner with Joyce Stevens
If you have a special talent or interest, or idea to share with the community, please contact us, we LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU. We will start planning summer programming during the month of April, and grant writing for next year's After School Programming will start soon as well, when everyone pitches in our programs truly are amazing for a community of our size. Look for programs for young adults, adult programming, and of course fun literacy programs for our youngest community members.
