Library Community Picnic
What a great way to end the summer! Thank you Nancy Blessing and Doug Johnstone for organizing our final pot luck of the summer. Thank you Angelique Lee for organizing the summer reading program and handing out certificates and ribbons. Thank you Picarello's Pizza for donating free Pizza certificates to this summers big readers. Thank you Joe and Courtney Desena for loaning us their projector for our screening of "A Bug's Life." What a treat to have a movie right here in town, and the popcorn was free!
Thank you to everyone who participated in our summer picnics. We hope you will continue to stop in the library through out the year.
Thanks to Carl Oertell (Odell) the kids at Saturday's story time got to try on real firefighter helmets, boots and even a coat. They read about volunteer firefighters putting out fires in small towns then put out a pretend fire using an Indian Pump.

Our July Pot Luck community picnic became a pot luck dinner, but in spite of the rain we had a great turn out. Several of us came home with Amish Friendship Bread starter (thanks Shari). If you loved Angelique's cole slaw, the recipe can be found here (Angelique suggests cutting the oil in half).
It was a great honor to have "Children Gather Round" and their huge drum here in our little town hall. Here are a few photos.
Join us Wednesday the 23rd at 6pm for a nature scavenger hunt, and every Saturday morning for stories and crafts.
See our whole summer programming list here.
CHILDREN GATHER ROUND Drumming from the Heart has performed at schools, libraries, camps, festivals and 1st Night celebrations in Vermont and New England.
Gather with us around the drum and celebrate the heartbeat of Mother Earth.
Children and adults alike...everyone gets to drum, dance and sing with us!
The picnic is by the playground next to the Pittsfield Roger Clark Memorial Library on the green on route 100. The picnic starts at 4pm and the drumming program will be at 6pm. The event is rain or shine and will be held in the Town Hall next door in the event of rain. Please join us and bring your friends and neighbors to this free community event.

A group of 10 volunteers showed up Sunday for our second library work day. We moved boxes, cataloged books, weeded shelves, set up new displays, updated spine tags, and generally spruced up books. Stop by, we add new books every week.
We have lots of plans for the summer including picnics, presentations, outdoor games, a big summer reading kick off and more. Our second Saturday of the month music and stories for toddlers will continue, and we'll start our Special Saturdays up again too. Check back here for details.
Have you noticed there are no photos lately? My camera's broken, I should have it back in a few weeks.
